⚡🚨🇫🇷 ALERT - A child around ten years old and his mother were kidnapped in Burgundy to extort a ransom in cryptocurrency from the father.
The kidnappers demanded several hundred thousand euros in cryptocurrency from the father, an entrepreneur in the sector.
They knew the exact amount in his wallet, which points the investigation toward a leak of information.
The GIGN located the victims Tuesday morning in a hotel room in Val-de-Marne, after more than 20 hours in captivity. No ransom was paid; several suspects were arrested thanks to the victims’ vehicle.
France has now recorded one crypto-related kidnapping every five days since January 2026.
