Partly because of American health insurance/healthcare/social support—I revealed my condition last week and surgery date (mid-November) because I need to sell books to cover the cost and my lost income! (Fortunately, we have a very good insurer, so I am having none of the issue of uncovered costs or rejected procedures.)
