my question is more “what’s the feasible alternative” - at the core of the AI problem is the ability for (sheer endless) over-production relative to our capacity to process, evaluate, and integrate results. That structural problem doesn’t magically evaporate because you get rid of commercial publishers, or a particular unit of scientific record keeping and dissemination
given that science is a communal, inter-subjective, incremental endeavour it’s going to need *some kind of* records for information. And if the problem is “too much information”, how will the format alone solve it?
