OTS is needed because we need to know *when* a given Nostr event was signed / notarized. We need to know this because we need to determine whether the Nostr event was signed during a period in which the signer key had signing authority, or during a period in which the signer did not have signing authority.
The system is up and running, so you can log in with NIP-07 and go to the profile page of one of the Inkan identities. If you click on one of the green "D"s that appears on the avatars on events by an Inkan identity, you'll see a modal explaining why the event was attributed to the identity. This modal includes links where you can browse the blockchain / OTS backup data that support the attribution. This may a good way of getting one's mind around what Inkan is doing.
That said, I'll heed your advice and try to communicate it better. It does seem to require some explanation ...
