This weekend's endeavors come with a reminder.

That true self-reliance isn't raising chickens, or planting seedlings, or building a home off the grid.

True self-reliance is stringent control over your perception faculty. It is trusting your instincts without obeying the implorations of others. Because if you just borrow and conform to the ideals of people you see on TV/social media.. then that's all you can do: borrow. You fail to search out what makes you individually great.

The only observation that matters is your own personal perception shaped by a lifetime of experiences. Otherwise all you're doing is making predictable assumptions based on the whims of other people who claim to know your duty better than you do.

I suggest you see these people for what they are: charlatans.

This is not *a* way to become great again. It is the only way.
