A provocative question. Personally, I have no interest in cheap Chinese radios. Not because they're Chinese, per se. But their RF sections are often sub par, they're easily desensitized and the audio can be uneven. I have a Hytera AR482 that has none of those issues.
I briefly used a TYT DMR radio. Like a fake Rolex, it looks the part, but feels off. Audio out of that radio sounds robotic to my ears.
Everyone can make their own choice. For me, no thanks. #HamRadio
