I also have experienced, even on TCP backbone set as gateway, the failure of replies to my messages to get through. Not sure if this is the problem you are referring to. So I message someone using my backbone gateway and they reply but it does not get delivered to me. (I have set up reticulum.me and reticulorum.net as backbone gateways BTW)
