Gojiberra on Nostr: "and the walls came tumbling down" all the kids shouted the last line of the song. ...

"and the walls came tumbling down" all the kids shouted the last line of the song.

they didn't realize they were referring to an actual event, which occurred right around the time that God ended his "Universal Basic Manna" program.

Joshua 5:12 And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

So, the charismatic young leader Joshua somehow convinced all his warriors to march around a city for a week, and blow a trumpet on the 7th day, and 13th time total around the city (yes, # 13 was unlucky for Jerico).

6:2 And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

6:3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

6:4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

6:5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

As a young person, a charismatic young Bible teacher convinced me to believe this is real, and an entire classroom of my peers. I believed that they blew a trumpet and the walls came tumbling down.

The only thing that blows my mind right now is, why don't other military generals use this strategy? what do they not understand?
