My little pet conspiracy theory is that Trump is going to get assassinated once he's become more of a liability than an asset - either they order it directly or they just let it happen, whichever.
Vance is the obvious proxy for tech fascists like Thiel and they didn't spend that much fucking money for a *Vice* President. Plus, an assassination provides a ton of political capital to really crank the fascism to to 11.
It sure does look like things are getting primed to make the Republican base glad to be rid of Trump.
