I often think about non-technical people i knew in the early oughts - like my exs parents - who had selected custom fonts for their browser. Their web was all papyrus!
People often talk like no one changes their settings. And it's true I see it less often. But I don't believe it's the natural state of things - I think we trained them out of it?
What did we do to discourage people having preferences?
