Over my time commissioning artists for serious, commercial work, I have lost about $5,000 to artists just disappearing or delivering unusable work and then ghosting when I asked for changes.
They make such sad-sack cases for themselves on Twitter and everyone believes them, but tons of artists are actually just lazy shits who draw as a hobby but want money for it. And you never know which one you're dealing with until they flake out.
