My Botany class didn't teach fungi, because I took it in the summer. My Plant Physiology class didn't teach fungi at all. Neither did my Plant Ecology or Plants and Human Nutrition classes. And my tomato genetics project was all about tomatoes.
It's become clear, though, that if I'm going to keep pretending to be an expert on stuff-growing-in-the-ground, I'm going to have to actually learn about the *other* stuff growing in the ground.
