Just watched a wonderful doco on Charmian Clift. Jeez, what a life, and what a trail of destruction behind her. She suicides at age 45, her husband George Johnstone dies the following year of TB, eldest child dies at 42 of alcohol related illness, daughter at 25 by suicide, and youngest son is still alive.. a total recluse. But they did leave behind some wonderful literature, so there's that.
