My mother wasn't yet born when the ERA was first presented before Congress in 1923. I was a very young woman when ERA was finally passed by both houses in 1972 and turned over to the states for ratification. Now I am old and don't expect to see it ratified during my lifetime. It's heartbreaking. Is this too much to ask of our fellow Americans?
