I got a chemistry degree and with the exception of 2nd year organic, which was a requirement for all the -ologies, so was about 50/50, there were few women in the classes. Profs ranged from resenting women, seeming to be afraid of women, and going out of their way to be helpful to women. The most “normal” were those who taught 1st & 2nd yr Organic. Wearing skirts & lipstick seemed to make the resentful & scared ones more so.
