i can run, and swim
i am native to the tropical forests of New Guinea, the Moluccas and northeastern Australia.
some people think i am the world’s most dangerous bird but, seriously mate, the ostrich is worse
and i will not have a go unless provoked
i do not have a tongue but i have sharp beak, great for picking up fruit
i have three toed feet, with sharp claws
i have a keratinous skin-covered casque on my head
(it’s a giant knob, a bit like that of a dinosaur, or maybe it looks like night-cap)
i have blue around my neck (and maybe my face, depending on my style)
i come in 3 main styles;
if i am a northern species style of me, i have a single wattle;
if i am a southern species style of me, i have a double wattle
and grow to between 5 and 6 feet tall (up to 2 m);
if i am a dwarf style of me i have no wattle
i am asia’s largest bird
i am a ratite, which means i do not have a keel on my sternum
my closest relative is the emu
