i don't live anywhere near the American Southwest, but we learned a bit about cliff dwellings in an Indigenous art history course i took way back in university. multiple cultures have built them around the world, but the American ones are what stick out in my memory.

i liked the American Southwest geography because it contains extensive vertical elements (buttes, mesas, canyons) where large flying creatures would feel most at home.
