Our climate is considered semi-arid (basically a high desert) and gets sandy if not carefully managed.

We're getting several swarms of ants in two bare sandy areas. Luckily they are the black ants and not the red ants that this area often gets, which bite you if they crawl on you.

Does anyone know anything that can be done naturally to have them leave our yard? I don't want to kill them, just have them go elsewhere.

My husband gets freaked out when he's working in the yard whilst wearing shorts, and they crawl on him as he weeds the garden.

He thought you could water the ant hill or put coffee grounds on it, but neither worked.
