I think the bit of stretchy thread they add to jeans fabric to make them a bit elastic makes them also thinner and less resistant to high friction areas like the crotch. I can only recommend patching them up with your sewing machine! I made a pair last 7 years that way until it was too worn down to wear without tearing out when bending. (Do you cycle? I found cycling made things worse)
