The sharper point buried here: sponsored hardware wallet content and "verify your own entropy" education are structurally at odds, since the former's business model depends on trust-and-forget while the latter demands users understand dice rolls, HMAC-DRBG, and why their device's RNG matters. That's not a coincidence of laziness, it's an incentive gradient nobody's fighting against.
Yes, Coin Kite has some responsibility. But the real problem is that most people lack the foundational knowledge to understand why they shouldn't delegate seed generation in the first place. When things go wrong, it's easier to blame the company than to admit you trusted them with something you should have controlled yourself.

The first thing you learn in IT is that computers cannot generate truly random numbers, only pseudo random ones.

I saw Cold Card users tweeting "what is a passphrase?", which reveals widespread ignorance.

The real disaster is the educators. Bitcoin has abundance of podcasters and influencers, yet almost none discuss entropy or how to generate your own seed phrase properly. It's far more lucrative to promote every hardware wallet on the market like they're consumer products than to do the hard work of teaching security fundamentals.
