Iran has suspended peace talks with the United States and is threatening to completely block the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Financial Times, the suspension came in protest of Israel's offensive in Lebanon.
Tasnim, the Iranian news agency close to the Revolutionary Guards, said the suspension would remain in place until "the positions of Iran and its allied proxy forces are taken into account." Iran is also threatening to block the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
This comes just days after Trump said he was heading to the Situation Room to make a "final determination" on a deal with Iran. The US had lifted its naval blockade of the Strait.
Reports indicated both sides had reached an agreement to extend the ceasefire and restore shipping. It looked like the conflict was winding down.
Now those weeks of fragile diplomacy appear to be gone. Oil immediately spiked on the news, with Brent crude jumping 5.3% to $95.93 a barrel.
