I'm going to open up faggot tourney nominations once I get off my ass and do my taxes.
This thread is not me opening up those nominations, but me discussing what I'm thinking while being open to alterations.
I don't want to open them up without having the rules hammered out, and I haven't done that quite yet. However, I want the following things:
A) I want a field with enough fresh faces that it doesn't just feel like a do-over.
B) I want to get as many *places* represented as possible: I don't want everyone to be from poast/NCD/NAS.
C) I don't want to make any vote feel like a "moral" choice.
D) I want every element of this process to be immune to alt-flooding.
E) I want this to be an honest "this side of fedi" thing while still roping in as many people as possible.
I'm thinking I do this:
1) Total nomination count is 31 (with myself taking the 32nd seed). (A)
2) No more than 6 entrants are allowed from any instance. If this rule caps the number of entrants below 31, then this increases until there's enough people. (B)
3) The old "you must be an individual who has had an account on this side of fedi since February of this year" rule holds, with the addition that people who are *nominated* must have posted anything since then (so for example PonyPanda - who has been run off - is ineligible). (A,D,E)
4) The instance a participant/voter/nominator's main is on must MUTUALLY federate with at least one of the following: Poast, lab.nyanide.com, NCD. (E)
5) JudgeDread and CMD are specifically excluded from nomination. (Dread due to A, CMD due to automatically being entered)*.
6) Pedi users are excluded, regardless of any other criteria. This means anybody who has such an account, regardless of whether or not they have a clean alt. Such instances include those that lab.nyanide.com defederates from, but that list is not exhaustive. (C,E)
7) Everyone who nominates MUST nominate EXACTLY 3 DIFFERENT people - no more, no less. Each nomination carries equal weight. (A)
The only majorly different ones from last year are 2 and 7. I don't want poast to flood the field (it kinda did last year) so rule 2 is in play. I don't want NAS to come along and only nominate CSB (that's boring), so rule 7 is in play.
I'm asking for criticism and feedback before this gets set in stone.
*Hardcore Dread haters can expect a VERY SPECIAL treat at the end of the tournament as a concession. Stay tuned!
