I don't know ... sometimes you go for the option you love the most; sometimes you have to balance competing interests; sometimes you settle for the option you hate the least. Austin Meyers can come off as being somewhat pompous and knowing more than everyone else (and I roll my eyes a bit) but uhh, having known the x-plane project since all the way back when FlightGear was just getting started, they took a different path, Austin owns a plane, I don't ... but I don't know that he's a bad guy or the project has bad values. It is a commercial project but that allows them to do more or different things compared to FlightGear ... so tradeoffs, but not necessarily good or bad in my view. When people are crappy to each other, that's a bad things though and sadly that can happen anywhere with any group.
