I had a "green energy advocate" tell me that air travel will have to be abandoned because there simply isn't enough land and other resources to build the renewable energy infrastructure to produce fuel for the current scale of jet traffic.
When I pointed out that this is only about 3% of world fossil fuel use, and if renewables can't do this, they certainly can't do the rest, I didn't get a very useful answer.
