In FOSS we build trust based on common contribution AND do I know you? Have I seen you at a conference? etc. The ability for me to work with Gtk developers improved when I met them in person... mostly. And it's because this is transacting labour in a high trust community.
AND THEN we invited the entire world in and with no trust system. Not security trust; economic trust; Labour trust. And it poisons every GPL project to not trust our users. Well except google's GPL code...
