Africa Bitcoin Day 2026 🎊

I honestly want to repeat this day over and over again.

On Saturday, we came together as Africans to celebrate #bitcoin as a tool that is bringing financial sovereignity to #Africa, shaping how money should be stored, moved and used in trusted sustainable ways, solving an integral issue within our societies.

We had real, nude, authentic and very needed conversations. Spaning from the leaders in the space, builders building revolutionary tools, merchants opting for bitcoin as their preferred currency and even the everyday bitcoin user, deep in the heart of Nairobi's dense settlements, #Kibera! Thank you afribitkibera (nprofile…mcdk) for enabling this! Everyone shared on the landscape, we celebrated the efforts and developments, and also spotlighted the challenges we are currently experiencing that would need to be addressed.

bitika (nprofile…fflz) stood out as an integral tool in the ecosystem, as a simple, acessible and inclusive tool that brings bitcoin closer to them, helping them easily convert their KES to bitcoin. I noticed the pattern of businesses using https://bitika.xyz to receive payments in bitcoin from customers paying with M-Pesa. Businesses need to swiftly receive bitcoin, regardless of the customers currency (bitcoin or KES) and this exposes the need to intentionally improve their experiences and let their businesses thrive. Looking forward to this development!

The celebration we collectivelly had yesterday was one that exposes an increasingly high rate of bitcoin adoption and highlighted how we can better develop the ecosystem.
