Valve seems to be the only company that didn’t go full corporate like every other big tech company founded by a group of nerds. A lot of those companies went downhill in terms of management (even while making tons of money) because the nerds convinced themselves they knew nothing about running a business, so they either tried to become managers overnight or hired Ivy League frat guys to do it for them. I wonder if there’s any hope that executives might see this and realize it could be better to create a more open environment for competent people. https://www.tomshardware.com/video-games/pc-gaming/valve-makes-almost-usd50-million-per-employee-raking-in-more-cash-per-person-than-google-amazon-or-microsoft-gaming-giants-350-employees-on-track-to-generate-usd17-billion-this-year
