Yeah, it's rough. I spent 16 months out of work, applied for more than 600 jobs, and got responses (of any kind) to about a third of my applications. I had 22 first-round interviews and a handful of second rounds.
I start monday as a lab tech on $60K. I have a PhD and 15 years' industry experience; my last job paid $150K.
