Do not underestimate the power of computers. Adding any sort of pattern eliminates the entropy. It could be a good temporary situation for an emergency escape, but it’s not a safe long-term solution. Someone could easily create a computer program that scans your grid and attempts all possible patterns to crack it. Computers are very good at finding patterns. Even if you try to be creative by skipping one grid for every word and so on. If you try to introduce more randomness (entropy) you risk forgetting it yourself or making it impossible for your family to recover it if you are gone. You are better off trying to compose a story using your words and memorize them that way. Or, focus on adding a strong pass phrase that you and your family can easily remember. Whatever you do, be very careful. Think about the “KISS” principle:
