After the Free Software movement was founded it would've been entirely possible that it fizzled out entirely, that you would need to write code on a nonfree OS in a nonfree language or at least a nonfree compiler, debug with a nonfree debugger, read the news on a nonfree network with nonfree authoring and browsing tools. That doesn't mean it's enough, but we've won because we yet exist.
