Tip that might work: mix air drying clay with 50% PVA glue. Apparently it's quite messy, but might help with the cracking and curling. Was a potential recommendation from Dana Howl's latest video on her Patron. She admitted though she hasn't tried it, and uses Apoxy Sculpt with her basing roller bases.
