But I would argue that this action (kidnapping a sitting head of state without even the pretext of human rights/democracy/etc and without briefing Congress) is more akin to what ye old kings would do, where there was no check on their authority and they could do as they pleased. That is, this action attempts to show LatAm, US citizens, and the world that Trump is above not only international law, but US law as well.
