None of our brains are. We didn't evolve to know about bad stuff happening to people even twenty miles away, never mind all over the world. And even that used to be quite abstract, in news stories. Now we can be in daily contact with people we have no business knowing even exist, and get to worry about them and their families and pets. This is such new territory and it's normal not to know how to deal with it.
