I’m absolutely devastated to learn of the passing of Jim Parkinson. I wept openly on the crowded subway ride home after learning the news.

Many know Jim as the designer of the Rolling Stone logo, but that is just a tiny fraction of all the amazing work and influence he’s leaving behind for us all in the fields of type and lettering.

Beyond his work, Jim was also just the most kind, humble, clever, genuine, and generally admirable person. I’m honored to have known him, even just a little bit.
