That period is just "released". There's no special name for it. CentOS releases updates after they pass QA. RHEL defers most of them to batch them up into minor versions. If you put them into a diagram, it would look like comparing a gradual slope versus stair steps. It's all the same major version and must follow the compatibility rules.

Why are you so insistent on calling it beta or testing? No one involved in the project calls it that. Why do you think you know better than us?
