HOKAY! This is how it'll go down:

FIRST snapshot of Apophis from space will be via a flyby by JAXA's DESTINY+ (then mooch off to Phaethon).

ESA/JAXA Ramses (launch buddy with DESTINY+ on JAXA H3) will then rendezvous with Apophis during the close encounter with Earth.

Then NASA's OSIRIS-APEX will view the aftermath post encounter.

This is an epic international initiative to look at what happens when an NEO comes close to the Earth to understand better how we might deflect if we ever need to.
