It's funny to me that people don't know the 12 V receptacle in cars was originally for a resistive cigarette lighter. Like, people still seem to call them “cigarette lighters” IME, it's been less than 20 years since they stopped coming standard and I find it really hard to believe that one wouldn't find the actual lighter part in a random used car, and even then you haven't seen it in any old movies or anything?
