I think there needs to be an independent channel of communication about the git status of any code obtained from any repo at all to notify if the repo you are seeing is behind the SSOT. I mean a separate infrastructure that is not down just because the access to the SSOT repo is down. Redundant git status channels are needed in my view, including all known peer to peer TCP alternatives. Just ideas.
