anyway now I think I need to replicate some of the network arch that exists on the server which this is essentially replacing (and taking the name of) ... there are two ways to do that, either the way I currently do it which is to manually create bridges etc for certain groups of vms and run an actual software router in a tiny vm to forward traffic to the outside world, which is less insane than it sounds when you remember, everything has to work with me having zero access to change anything about the internet connection available on my couch ... it's just a pipe ... and those software routers typically have a 24/7 vpn running ... 😵‍💫
