A character from Pudgy Penguins is being integrated into Pixelverse, joining characters like Doge from Dogecoin and Mew from the Solana memecoin MEW. The figure from the popular Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collection Pudgy Penguins will be introduced as a character in the Pixelverse mini-game on Telegram.
On July 16, Pixelverse announced the introduction of the Pudgy Penguin character "Pudgy" into the game. This character joins other crypto favorites like Doge from the memecoin Dogecoin (DOGE) and Mew, a character representing a Solana memecoin.
With this integration, players can play the character in the Pixelverse game. This follows the official release of the Pudgy Penguins game in 2025.
Decline of the NFT Market in the Second Quarter
In the second quarter of 2024, NFT sales volume decreased by 45 percent compared to the first quarter of the year. The digital collection tracker CryptoSlam showed a significant decline in NFT volume from $4.1 billion in the first quarter to $2.24 billion in the second quarter. This was the worst quarter for NFTs since the third quarter of 2023.
While the NFT market is in decline, some experts say the sector is undergoing a correction. Anoir Houmou, founder and CEO of the Sui-backed video engagement platform RECRD, said trends indicate that the market is gradually maturing after its explosive growth in recent years. Despite lower NFT sales, Pixelverse and Pudgy Penguins remain some of the biggest names in Web3 gaming and NFTs.
The Telegram mini-game PixelTap reached over 50 million users in the first month after its launch.
