If I create a 2D array of points on a 2.54mm pitch, I can use them to space and group together a set of through-hole components, then drag and align them to wherever on a metric grid I want them. I can then export the footprints to SVG and line things up as I like in Fritzing.
This workflow is certifiably awful but it works in my brain shut up don't tell me I'm doing it wrong I'm having fun making stuffs
