I wouldn't say privacy is the issue with ebooks so much as ownership and sovereignty. Ebooks can be edited, removed from the library, and are tied to one app/platform. It's why I still buy physical books and the only time I grab ebooks is if there's a bundle on sale for books I also have a physical copy of.
