Firefox would be a good use-case for that too - I think a few distros put tweaks on it that it has better privacy defaults.

So depending on the situation, I might not want the official firefox flatpak, I might want my distro's bundler's firefox flatpak.

But distros could be a lot more choosey about which apps they do that with and could update them piecemeal instead of all at the same time.
