I wonder if we all don't go through that experience. One day in my first year, I went to pull the entrance reducers off one hive. I was using the hook end of a hive tool for one. Except the reducer just pivoted. So..., not thinking I reached into the entrance with my hand. I swear time slowed down enough that I saw dozens of bees move as straight as arrows at my hand. I remember backing away about 30 ft. and ending up on my back. I must have looked like a goof.
You're right - follow the process.
