big ask, they love their ass-stick
and i feel you. i don't like setting everything from scratch and i don't care about fine-grain control THAT much. but i've grown to like the workflow and you can't effectively emulate it in kde plasma.
also both wms i use break less often than plasma did, even when i stopped customizing plasma (the thing that broke it most often, even though its what they sell themselves on)
i did end up using someone's dots for hyprland which i mildly regret, since instead of it being dots+list of programs to install, it insists itself upon your system, creating a DE-like experience of "i don't fully know where/what everything is" but it's been fine. i haven't updated the dots ever and just do my own maintenance when things need updating and everything is hunky dory aside from not being able to launch hyprland the "correct" way
