I think some people get so deep into a hobby that it becomes a big part of their personal identity, so when someone else disagrees with them about some aspect of it, it really does feel like a personal attack that triggers a strong emotional response. About bugs.

Hopefully most of them are better about it offline. Forums and social media can definitely amplify the problem.
