I taught for 38 years, retired 3 years ago. Teachers are afraid to teach what many conservative parents would object to. Especially now with cell phones capable of recording them. It started over 30 years ago in Iowa when Republicans didn't want standards-based education because it contained standards on community and equity and environmental issues. They wanted their kids to just learn to read and do math, period.
