And I think that might hint at another necessary trait of the #meme: to be successfully memetic, a media snippet must feature a *star* of some sort. The memetic character of Trouble (right here in River City!!) is cemented by the stardom of its performer, Robert Preston, and his special talent for convincing-sounding jabber. He's got the sort of voice and manner of speaking which causes one to think, "oh yeah, THAT guy!" even if you have no idea who Preston is, because there's a chance you've seen him in some other role, talking in basically the same way.
Why does the "doge" meme still have some life left in it even after Elon Musk and his fanboys have played the meme nearly to death? It's because that particular dog in the photo became famous (q.v. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabosu_(dog)). In 2024 someone announced production of a whole documentary movie about Kabosu...wonder whatever happened to that.
