This is pure digital neocolonialism. Best parts for me, from an European point of view:
- "Shaping international policy discussions around copyright and AI" [ie: mindwash or pay gullible politicians] "to prevent less innovative countries from imposing their legal regimes on American AI firms and slowing our rate of progress" [how this peasants dare!].
- "Determining whether other countries are restricting American companies’ access to data" [because what's mine is mine and what's yours is also mine]
And of course the smart guys at Google have already supported OpenAI, with another open letter stating - among many silly things - that "Governments should generally not impose regulatory checkpoints on the development of underlying AI models or AI innovation. Some governments are seeking to impose undue bureaucratic burdens on AI development and deployment, oen in ways that would primarily aect U.S. companies".
