Just came across a great sounding charity that provides donations of essential items to refugees in Toronto: HENS (Home Essentials Newcomer Support). If you're parting with useable kitchen items (dinnerware, cutlery, microwave ovens, toasters, etc.), clothing, bedding and bathroom items, and some other stuff, this is the place.
(Better than a place like Valu Village which is a for-profit chain owned by a corporation and is listed on the stock market)
